We handle major bloodstock, livestock and fisheries claims in the London market including mortality, injury, infertility and liability policies. We also handled claims arising from the kidnapping of Shergar.
Jewellers, fine art and specie
In the fine art, jewellers' block and specie market we act for many insurers underwriting these risks in the London market and overseas. In particular we handle high value coverage disputes, liability defence and recoveries involving jewellers and security companies, banks, galleries, auction houses. Arising out of the fire at Momart's warehouse in May 2004, we acted for the owners and insurers of artworks by artists such as Damien Hirst and the Estates of Patrick Heron and Shirley Conran, running to several million pounds, where we obtained a successful recovery through mediation.
Health, personal accident and travel
We have handled large disputes in personal accident, health, key man and workers compensation cases.
Some of our personal accident cases concern policies covering high net worth individuals, including sports personalities. Likewise in key man policies we have acted for insurers in cases such as those involving the deaths of Robert Maxwell and a member of a famous rock band. In workman’s compensation we have handled a number of reinsurance cases, most notably in the Sphere Drake spiral.
We also advise on contingency insurance including the cancellation of concerts and sporting events, film finance, extended warranties and representations in M&A transactions.
