Clyde & Co is pleased to announce its association with Mongolian law firm Khan Lex Advocates LLC

Mongolia is one of the world's fastest growing economies and one of Asia's most exciting emerging markets. With its enormous mineral wealth, the country is expected to see a steady increase in mining, trade, financial services, projects and infrastructure work.

Khan Lex Advocates have a background in both the private sector and in the Mongolian government legal service. The team played a key role in the drafting of legislation including the first Minerals Code, the Foreign Investment Code, Finance Lease Code, Civil Code, the State Property Law and Company, Securities, Arbitration and Tax Laws as well as other legislation connected with infrastructure, employment and governance.

Launched in 2011 and based in Ulaanbaatar, Khan Lex Advocates advise clients on both their dealings with the legislative, executive and judicial branches of Government as well as offering a full service across securities, corporate, projects, contracts, tax, foreign investment, employment & immigration and dispute resolution. The firm focuses on the key sectors of financial services, transportation, mining, energy, infrastructure and international trade.

Clyde & Co international trade partner Stephen Tricks, who has led Clyde & Co's activities in relation to Mongolia, said: "With the benefit of having Khandsuren Khuu, a Mongolian-qualified lawyer based in our London office, Clyde & Co has been steadily increasing the range of advice we provide to Mongolian clients and to other clients looking to do business in Mongolia. This association with Khan Lex Advocates provides us with the opportunity to develop our Mongolian practice yet further. We can now link our clients to a law firm that is not only first rate in terms of its ethos and quality but also has a unique experience of the legislative codes and considerable insight into the government of the country. We are thrilled to have reached this agreement and look forward to working closely with the lawyers at Khan Lex Advocates. "

Khan Lex Advocates managing partner B.Enkhbat said: "Since we launched the firm last year we have attracted clients active in financial services, mining, construction, real estate, securities and international trade, both domestically based and international. The growth of the market and rising demand for legal services is well known as the number of foreign-owned or joint ventures that have begun operating in Mongolia has mushroomed with many more on the horizon. This association with Clyde & Co enables us to work with an international law firm that has a long track record of assisting its clients in emerging markets and particularly in the areas of mining, energy, financial services, infrastructure and international trade. Clyde & Co's focus on Mongolia, its pedigree in emerging markets, knowledge of how to operate effectively with local law firms and collaborative and expansionist culture all contributed to our desire to work with Clyde & Co through this agreement."
