Clyde & Co opened its Tripoli office on 1 August 2012. The first international law firm licensed in Libya post Arab Spring, our Tripoli office continues Clyde & Co's tradition of supporting clients on-the-ground in frontier markets.
Libya faces significant challenges as a jurisdiction in which to undertake business. The UN’s efforts to broker a peace deal between militias are ongoing. Notwithstanding this, our Libyan capability continues to function. A number of our lawyers are now based in the Abu Dhabi office from where Libyan related files are handled on a day to day basis. We are currently assisting a broad range of clients across a number of sectors. This ranges from assisting international banks, financial institutions and oil companies on their significant restructuring requirements to acting for insurance clients on claims arising out of the civil unrest.
