Obesity can be a disability says the Advocate General of the CJEU today

The Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), delivered his opinion today on obesity discrimination. He concluded that it is unlawful to discriminate against someone on the grounds of obesity where it has reached such a degree that it hinders participation in professional life.

On 17 July 2014 the European Court of Justice (ECJ) will decide whether obese employees should be classified as disabled, and so have the benefit of legal protection from being discriminated against because of their obesity.
