Doha
With one of the world’s highest GDPs and the third highest natural gas reserves, Doha is a quiet but growing force. As our clients increasingly find business opportunities in the region, we have responded by opening our third Middle Eastern office to provide a premium commercial service.
Our Middle East offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Riyadh work together as one unit, ensuring comprehensive regional coverage for our clients. We have over 150 legal staff in the region and, with a network of correspondents, we service the Middle East, Gulf States and the Indian subcontinent.
Together with Clyde & Co’s global strengths in the areas of aviation, insurance and reinsurance, marine and shipping and dispute resolution, our areas of expertise in the region include:
- Banking and finance (including Islamic Finance)
- Corporate and commercial
- Information and communications technology
- Intellectual property
- Property and construction
- Regulatory
These services are underpinned by our outstanding in-house translation and government liaison services.
We act for the Government of Qatar, Qatari public and private companies and non-Qatari companies, banks and insurance companies.
Our Doha lawyers have advised widely on the establishment of the Qatar Financial Centre. Other significant matters include the sale of Mannai Corporation QSC on the first Qatari debt for equity swap, and representing Libano Suisse on the first insurance portfolio transfer.
Also in the region, we were the first western law firm to offer a presence in Baghdad. We act for western companies wanting advice and assistance in Iraq, or Iraqi companies wishing to contract with western firms.
Qatar Financial Centre Branch licensed by the Qatar Financial Centre Authority.
