The combination of Clyde & Co and Barlow Lyde & Gilbert has resulted in us being the most powerful insurance law firm in the world. In Hong Kong, we are now the pre-eminent insurance law practice and have leading practitioners across all lines of business, contentious and non-contentious. We have particular expertise in professional liability, financial lines, property, casualty and healthcare (including personal injury/employees' compensation), marine and aviation. We also have a dedicated team of corporate insurance lawyers in Hong Kong that focuses on corporate, commercial and regulatory insurance matters across the region. We have been named Asian-MENA Counsel Firm of the Year for Insurance for the past two years in Hong Kong (2010 and 2011).

Our Asia construction group is led out of Hong Kong, but covers infrastructure and construction projects across the region. The team acts for a broad cross-section of the industry from developers, purchasers, landowners and public bodies through to contractors, sub-contractors, engineers, surveyors and investors in relation to both contentious and non-contentious construction matters.

We have one of the leading marine practices globally and this is replicated in Hong Kong. Our team is highly experienced in resolving issues arising from marine and energy insurance, transport, and international trade and commodities. Our broad client base includes property and liability insurers, ship owners, charterers, traders, commodity brokers, banks, logistics companies and transport groups, major energy and offshore construction operators, oil majors and operators.  We have acted in many marine casualties and our experience extends to every area of shipping: salvage and collision, charterparties, cargo, ship sale and purchase, procurement, and all insurance matters associated with shipping. We also advise on all aspects of international trade including commodities, trade finance, bills of lading, ship sale and purchase and logistics.

Our aviation group advises the entire spectrum of industry participants and offers a full range of aviation finance and aviation liability capabilities.

Our market-leading TMT group was awarded “Asian-Mena Counsel Firm of the Year 2011 – TMT, Hong Kong” and we advise on a broad range of legal issues relating to telecoms, media and technology. Our intellectual property group covers all aspects of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property law, including patents, trade marks (and passing off), copyrights, design rights, databases, domain names and confidential information.

Our corporate and commercial group advises on merger and acquisitions, merger controls, corporate finance, private equity and venture capital transactions, joint ventures and shareholders' agreements, reorganisations, refinancings and other general corporate matters.  We also advise Asian, and particularly Chinese clients, on their outbound investments.

Our employment group advises on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law including employment contracts, employee handbooks, policies and procedures, breach of contract, confidentiality and restrictive covenants, discrimination issues, redundancies, health and safety compliance and privacy and data protection issues.

In addition to Clyde & Co's network of 27 offices worldwide, we have well-established affiliations with local and correspondent law firms in all major jurisdictions. We pride ourselves on being able to call on the best lawyers for a particular engagement in a particular country. Whether we manage and co-ordinate local lawyers, or work alongside them, the number of international mandates which we have handled and our resulting experience ensure we can deliver both an effective international and local service for clients throughout Hong Kong & China, the Asia Pacific region, and worldwide.
