Alfred is a member of the Insurance and Dispute Resolution Groups of Clyde & Co’s Abu Dhabi office.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co he practiced at a large South African commercial law firm where he underwent his training and subsequently practised as an insurance and litigation attorney. Alfred joined Clyde & Co's Abu Dhabi office in June 2006 and since then has acquired an in-depth knowledge of UAE and regional law. Alfred’s main areas of practice are focused on re/insurance and commercial litigation and arbitration.
Alfred has broad regional re/insurance experience advising both local and foreign re/insurance companies on both contentious and non-contentious matters.
Alfred has acted in disputes on behalf clients in a wide range of sectors including re/insurance, energy, defence, professional services, construction and healthcare. He has advised litigants before the courts of the UAE and other GCC countries and represents litigants in both national and international arbitrations, which have included arbitrations under the rules of the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre (ADCCAC); the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA); the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC); the Arbitration Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) and ad hoc arbitrations under both English and South African law.
