He advised the successful Lloyd's Underwriters in their defence of the only reported decision of the English courts in recent times relating to political risk insurance International Lottery Management v Dumas [2002] LRIR 237 which relates to issues of non-disclosure and misrepresentation with respect to confiscation insurance of an investment in a lottery in Azerbaijan
He has successfully defended a claim under a contract frustration insurance policy relating to contract works in East Africa which was pursued through arbitration under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce, including the recovery of insurers' costs in full
His practice with respect to pursuing insurers' rights of subrogation includes a current worldwide recovery action in eight different jurisdictions where the sum at stake is US$261m

Andrew acts for Lloyd's and company insurers including the insurers of one of the world's largest security companies with respect to their cash in transit insurance

Andrew advises insurers and reinsurers of financial institutions, including bankers blanket bond insurance with respect to policy coverage disputes

He also has experience of contingency insurance, including business interruption and event cancellation insurance. He has successfully defended a multi-million pound business interruption claim on grounds of fraud
