Brian joined Clyde & Co in 1983, became a partner in 1987.
After spending over twenty years based in the firm's Guildford office, including serving four years on the firm's elected Management Board and five years as joint Head of Shipping, Brian relocated in November 2005 to the rapidly expanding Middle East Regional Office in Dubai as Head of Dispute Resolution to further strengthen the firm's presence in the region. He relocated to Singapore in February 2012 to the role of Managing Partner and is a member of the firm's Asia Regional Board.
Principally a marine litigation specialist, and recognised as a leader in this field by Legal 500, he has also gained a broad range of dispute resolution experience spanning a number of industry sectors. Aside from shipping, he has experience in off-shore energy, international trade and insurance. Brian's principal clients include major oil companies (he was the client relationship partner for BP and Total before relocating to Dubai), charterers, commodity traders and insurers worldwide.
Brian was listed as a leading individual in the 2009 Global Arbitration Review. The firm was ranked 11 out of the top 100 global arbitration practices.
As well as litigation in the Commercial Court, Brian has considerable experience of multi-jurisdictional proceedings, arbitrations under LMAA, LCIA and ICC rules, and ADR, particularly mediation.
