Chris is a partner at Clyde & Co Clasis Singapore. He specialises in contentious shipping and insurance related matters, advising a wide range of shipping and offshore clients and their insurers.
Chris trained with Clyde & Co and as a trainee he spent 6 months in the firm's Dubai office. On qualification Chris worked in the London office, predominantly on insurance and reinsurance disputes. Chris spent 5 years with the FD&D Department the North of England P&I Club where he advised the club's members daily on contract wordings and all manner of disputes arising under a wide variety of marine contracts including time and voyage charter parties, bills of lading, contracts of affreightment and bunker supply contracts. Chris also gained experience defending cargo claims, handling collisions and advising on groundings, salvage and General Average. Chris continues to advise on such matters for a wide range of ship owners, charterers and their P&I Clubs and hull insurers.
Chris has assisted clients involved in oil and gas exploration with contract drafting and reviews; vessel sale and purchase; rig and equipment sharing agreements; and advising on operational issues. Chris also advises marine and energy insurers and reinsurers on coverage, defences and recoveries.
Chris has experience of mediation, English High Court proceedings and international arbitration under LMAA, HKIAC, SCMA and ICC rules. Chris also has experience of supervising the handling of cases in the Indonesian and Malaysian courts.
