Douglas Maag joined Clyde & Co in 2009, bringing to the firm a wealth of trade sanction, international business, insurance and reinsurance experience gained over a twenty-seven-year legal career as both in-house and outside counsel, and as an arbitrator.
As former general counsel of the international operations of one of the world’s largest global insurers, Douglas has advised on a broad array of compliance, corporate, regulatory and other business issues. He has also counseled international clients on numerous transactional matters, including acquisitions, divestitures and establishment of new business operations, and has provided critical legal support and analysis for emerging market opportunities. Douglas also has extensive experience handling and resolving complex commercial, insurance and reinsurance disputes in the US, London and Bermuda markets. His legal experience extends across Asia, Australia, Latin America and Europe, in addition to North America.
Douglas graduated cum laude from Whittier Law School, where he was Editor-In-Chief of the Whittier Law Review.
