Elizabeth joined Clyde & Co in 2000 and is now a consultant for Clyde & Co's Latin American and Insurance/Reinsurance departments.
Elizabeth is also a qualified Brazilian lawyer and before joining Clyde & Co she practised as an in-house lawyer for two of the largest Brazilian Trading companies.
Elizabeth has a wide variety of experience in the areas of commercial litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.
Elizabeth specialises in international disputes with an emphasis on trade & commodities, energy, shipping, insurance and reinsurance and with a particular focus in Latin America. She has handled some of the largest reinsurance industrial, mining and energy losses in the London market in Latin America. Other types of claims often handled by Elizabeth in Latin America include BBBs, PFI and D&O claims. Given her Brazilian law qualification, she has also developed an expertise in Brazilian insurance and reinsurance law and the Brazilian insurance market practice generally. Through her work with Clyde & Co Elizabeth has developed a close relationship with the key market players in Latin America and specialised legal practitioners in the local jurisdictions.
She is also a trade and energy lawyer, having represented major oil & gas and commodities clients in various international arbitrations (ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, AAA, etc), mediations and commercial litigation in respect of disputes relating to general commodity trading, power and gas projects as well as carbon credits.
Elizabeth is an active member of the AIDA, International Association of Insurance Law, and is currently the Brazilian representative in the New Technologies, Prevention and Insurance International Working Party. She is the co-chair of the Insurance/Reinsurance Legal Service Group of the JETCO Group (Joint Economic Trade Committee).
