Isabella Merlin joined Clyde & Co in 2002 and is a senior associate in the Trade and Energy group, specialising in a variety of shipping and trade/energy disputes.
She advises on charter parties and bills of lading claims, COAs, unsafe port claims, demurrage claims, salvage, GA and collision.
Isabella has extensive arbitration experience (LCIA, LMAA, UNCITRAL, ICSID and ECT).
On the non-contentious side, she has been advising commodity trading clients in a variety of international contractual issues and major oil clients in the construction of PSCs and JOAs contracts. Isabella has been involved in the drafting and renegotiation of LNG charter parties and SPA for major LNG clients.
She is also qualified in Italy and speaks fluent Spanish, French and Portuguese. Isabella regularly lectures for Oxford Princeton (LNG and Tanker courses). She is an active member of AIDA, International Association of Insurance Law and Wista, Women's International Shipping and Trading Association.
