Joan D'Ambrosio practices in the area of professional liability, representing professionals and their insurers and reinsurers with respect to all issues ranging from coverage evaluations and disputes to litigation management and creative approaches to dispute resolution and litigation alternatives. For more than a decade, she has represented insurers in claims brought against lawyers, design professionals, real estate professionals, entertainment industry professionals and health care professionals. Joan represents professional liability and employment practices liability insurers and reinsurers with respect to individual risks and comprehensive insurance programs in California and nationally.
Joan has been active in working with insurers and professionals in the development of innovative insurance programs and manuscripted coverages, as well as developing and implementing risk management solutions for insurers, brokers and other intermediaries and professionals. She also conducts pre-underwriting and post-underwriting operations and claims risk management reviews and audits of insurance companies on behalf of reinsurers, and of companies on behalf of insurers. At various times during the last ten years, she was seconded to Lloyd's syndicates in London for extended periods of time, where she worked directly with the syndicates' Specialty Lines Teams on underwriting and claims issues involving insurance and reinsurance policies and programs in North America and internationally.
A member of the American Bar Association and the Bar Association of San Francisco, Joan is a 1991 graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law, J.D. and a magna cum laude graduate of the University of California at San Diego, B.A., 1988.
