Liliana specialises in complex multi-jurisdictional, large-scale reinsurance disputes across all classes of business, including Bankers Blanket Bond, energy, property, E&O, D&O and fraud. She has experience in all forms of dispute resolution, including mediation and international arbitration, particularly ICC.
Liliana has significant experience with the legal issues arising from the placement of international reinsurance business, particularly with regard to Latin America-related risks. She acts on behalf of international reinsurers exercising claims control (if appropriate) in Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina and elsewhere in Latin America. She advises on coverage issues, settlements, subrogation rights and recoveries, as well as on drafting and amending reinsurance wordings.
Liliana also works closely with international reinsurance brokers in relation to various aspects of their business, and has a strong familiarity with the contractual placement process, which is often reinsurance-led and broker-driven.
Her dual qualification as a Colombian civil lawyer and English solicitor is beneficial for clients, who can rely upon her to identify coverage gaps and potential areas of future conflict.
She regularly visits the Latin American markets and presents seminars at major regional conferences.
