Matthew S. Schultz has extensive experience in general liability, products liability, professional liability, consumer fraud actions, contract disputes and business litigation. He regularly represents businesses and individuals at the trial and appellate levels, in both state and federal court. Matthew also has significant experience representing franchisors in a variety of disputes.
He presently serves as a Trustee of the Essex County Bar Association. Matthew is an active member of the Young Lawyer's section of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and currently serves as the Young Lawyer Vice Liaison to the DRI Appellate Advocacy Subcommittee.
He has contributed to numerous publications and was co-author of "Emergency Response Team Coordination" (DRI, For the Defense, July 2006). Matthew is also the author of "The Attorney-Client Privilege and the Corporate Client: What Communications are Protected?" (DRI, For the Defense, April 2010).
He is a graduate of Rutgers College, Rutgers University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administration of Justice with minors in History and Criminology. Matthew received his Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law where he was a member of both the Appellate Advocacy and Interscholastic Moot Court Boards.
After graduation from law school, he served as Law Clerk to The Honorable Clarkson S. Fisher, Jr., Presiding Judge, Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, Monmouth County (now Judge Appellate Division, Superior Court of New Jersey).
