Melissa is a Senior Associate (New Zealand qualified). She specialises in insurance and reinsurance, with particular expertise in Financial Lines, Professional Indemnity and Directors and Officer claims.
Melissa was admitted in 2002 and has practised as a solicitor in top tier City of London insurance law firms for the last 5 years. Melissa has acted for insurers and their insureds over a wide range of disputes including the defence of professional negligence actions for solicitors, accountants, stockbrokers, insurance brokers, surveyors, trustees and construction professionals as well as claims against directors and officers and financial institutions. In New Zealand, Melissa gained experience in both the defence and prosecution of product liability claims. Melissa has also represented commercial organisations in respect of investigations by regulators and has appeared and quasi judicial bodies acting on behalf of government regulators.
In respect of non-contentious matters, Melissa has acted for a number of prominent London Market insurers providing coverage advice on financial institutions’, construction and solicitors’ policies and general liability policies. Many of her matters require advice on reinsurance and excess layer insurance issues.
Melissa joined Clyde & Co based in our Singapore office in 2012. She is a member of the Singapore Insurance Institute and the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Singapore.
