Mike joined Clyde & Co in 1989 and has been a partner since 1993.
Mike spent 5 years in the firm's Hong Kong office between 1990-1995. Mike specialises in marine insurance and general commercial dispute resolution.
On the insurance side Mike handles a broad range of liability defence, coverage and recovery cases. These can involve cargo and specie, hull (including builders' risk, IV, MII and war) and liabilities (including collision, charterers', ship repairers' and shipyard liabilities). They can be at the direct or reinsurance level and often involve disputes in a foreign jurisdiction requiring him to supervise foreign lawyers.
Mike also handles general commercial disputes relating to shipping and the international sale of goods.
He has given expert evidence on English law for use in foreign Courts on a number of occasions.
He is a fluent French speaker.
