Mike joined Clyde & Co in 1989 and has been a partner since 1993. He spent 5 years in the firm's Hong Kong office between 1990-1995. He has always specialised in marine insurance dispute resolution and litigation.
He handles contentious liability, coverage and recovery cases, particularly hull (including builders' risk, total loss, increased value, MII and war) and liabilities (including collision, charterers', ship repairers' and shipyard liabilities). This can be at the direct or reinsurance level and often involves disputes in a foreign jurisdiction requiring supervision of foreign lawyers. He has given expert evidence on English law on a number of occasions.
A major element of Mike's practice is work for the London insurance market but he also works closely with the firm's Paris office and is a fluent French speaker.
