Recent experience

  • Advising a venture capital fund in acquiring a controlling interest in a maritime/construction/engineering business established in Abu Dhabi
  • Acting for a government related entity in connection with four separate hotel joint ventures with a total investment in excess of AED$2.5billion
  • Acting for various government owned bodies in connection with a variety of joint ventures, government sponsored initiatives and cultural and educational matters
  • Advising a variety of developers and secondary developers in connection with the acquisition and subsequent development of land in the Emirates of Abu Dhabi
  • Acting for a venture capital fund acquiring an existing hotel in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Phase 2 of this will include financing and constructing a new hotel wing to double the size of the existing property
  • Advising an established international hospitality business in connection with the sale of a subsequent minority interest to a GCC group. As part of this sale the existing group will be restructured prior to closing
  • Acting for the founding shareholders of a new financial investment company which will undertake investment banking activities in the UAE and the GCC. This involved establishing a private joint stock company and obtaining a UAE Central Bank Licence
  • Advising a UAE shipping company in general matters including in connection with the acquisition of 5 tankers, various joint venture agreements, new ventures and detailed reorganisation of its SPV structures
  • Advising a major international reinsurance company in connection with its joint venture to establish and manage a compulsory health insurance company and scheme in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi
  • Advising a significant international contracting company regarding joint ventures, tenders, corporate structures etc within the GCC
  • Advising a long established investment company on the structure of various funds and the restructuring of its business to allow it to expand its service offering
