• Advising contingency BI underwriters on policy liability in respect of a CBI claim by Israeli assureds following a large fire in a petrochemical facility in Israel
• Advising machinery breakdown and BI insurers following a serious problem in a Malaysian petrochemical facility involving creep distortion to tubes in a steam reformer
• Advising operators' extra expense underwriters in relation to the application of named perils under the extended redrilling and making wells safe endorsements, in particular the meaning and effect of the term "windstorm" in the offshore environment
• Acting for subrogated insurers in a recovery action ($150m) against the designers of a state- of-the-art drillship, following a catastrophic casualty in the drawworks during the first eighteen months of operation, resulting in the loss of the drillstring and BOP
• Acting for control of well underwriters in relation to the defence of a policy claim for a total loss under the operators' extra expense policy following the blow-out of a well in Uzbekistan. The claim was subject to Uzbek law and involved extensive enquiries both into the circumstances of the loss and into the nature and application of relevant Uzbek law
• Acting for the construction insurers of a new platform in the South China Sea which was found to be in danger of imminent collapse following inspection after a typhoon in 2006. The policy is written according to well established English clauses but subject to Chinese law and practice
• Acting for the PI insurers of British building contractors to defend their interest and pursue recoveries in multiparty litigation following the failure of the concrete base to a large UK brewery depot
• Advising towage underwriters in relation to the defence of a policy claim for total loss of a production platform under tow from Brazil to Singapore which went missing in the South Atlantic in 2006 and subsequently was found grounded on Tristan da Cunha
