Paul Newdick

Paul was a partner at Clyde & Co for 25 years and since May 2013 is a consultant.  He has specialised in labour and employment law matters since 1982.

Paul has a background as a commercial litigator, with extensive experience in civil fraud and misfeasance, recovery of assets and insolvency related litigation. In the marine and energy sectors aside from crewing and manning issues, Paul has dealt with major incidents in relation to health and safety, personal injury and loss of life.

Paul advises on all aspects of UK and cross border labour and employment issues with a particular focus on directors duties, change management, reputational risk, privacy and whistleblowing. He also has extensive knowledge of restrictive covenants, breach of confidence and team moves. Paul has considerable experience in mobility and international employment law issues, especially in the US, Middle East, India and Europe.

Paul lectures both externally and at Clyde & Co client seminars, particularly in relation to the Maritime Labour Convention. Paul has also provided in-house employment training to several multinational companies.  He is an accredited Mediator focusing on employment disputes.

Paul heads up the firm's CSR function, as chair of its Community Council.  He is also chairman of LawWorks, the operating name for the Solicitors Pro Bono Group and a trustee of the National Pro Bono Centre.  He received a CBE in June 2008 and was appointed an honorary Q.C. in April 2014.
