Paul is a partner in Clyde & Co. He is a specialist in matters arising out of international transactions. Paul represents and advises a number of leading commodity houses.
His area of practice include advising in respect of C& F and FOB sales contracts, charterparties/bill of lading disputes, letters of credit, mareva injunctions and jurisdictional disputes.
Paul has extensive interest in the Middle East, particularly concentrating on Iraq, Iran and Libya. He was instrumental in setting up our associated office in Baghdad in 2003 with Mr Numan Shakir Numan. In Iraq, Paul has been involved in giving advice to numerous clients on a variety of issues including banking, insurance, telecoms regulations, claims issues, advice on leases and security contracts.
In Libya, he has handled a number of matters for the Libyan government on the contentious side, and also been involved in advising Libyan banks and drilling companies.
Paul has also advised both the Iranian government and private clients on a number of international matters.
He has a number of Russian clients involved in the oil and metal industries.
