Philip has been at Clyde & Co for 10 years and has been a partner since 2003.
He specialises in shipping and transport litigation, principally on behalf of cargo interests and their insurers/underwriters.
Philip has acted for underwriters and insurers worldwide on many of the major international shipping casualties of recent years, including "HYUNDAI FORTUNE" (2006) one of the largest containership losses ever, arising from a fire and explosion off the coast of Yemen and involving more than 60 underwriter clients globally, with cargo valued in excess of US$100m.
In addition, he is Clyde & Co's leading practitioner of "No Win No Fee" (contingency fee) litigation and, in that respect, deals with claims for loss and damage to cargoes carried by sea, road and air, on behalf of insurers/underwriters in London, Antwerp, New York, Seoul and Genoa marine insurance markets.
Philip also has a small charterer's liability practice.
As part of his practice, he regularly deals with disputes before the Commercial and Admiralty Courts in London, and before London arbitration tribunals, as well as
co-ordinating litigation in a number of other jurisdictions.
Philip is recommended by The Legal 500, an independent legal directory which covers the operations of law firms in over 85 countries around the world.
