Richard is a Senior legal assistant in the Dispute Resolution Group. He joined Clyde & Co in July of 2007 having practised in New Zealand for twelve years.
Richard’s main areas of practice are construction, marine and insurance litigation. He also has litigation experience in a broad range of other commercial law fields including Fair Trading and consumer law, professional negligence and property law.
As part of his construction law practice Richard advises both building owners and building professionals on liability issues arising out of construction contracts and has appeared on behalf of his clients in both Court and arbitration proceedings. In his maritime law practice, Richard has acted for cargo insurers on a wide variety of claims and has extensive experience in boat and ship building disputes. He also has extensive experience in non-marine insurance litigation including public liability and professional indemnity claims.
Richard has presented papers for a variety or organisations including Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Associations, the Auckland District Law Society, Lexis/Nexis and various insurance organisations.
