Richard qualified as an English solicitor in 1997 and worked for several years in an international law firm in London before moving to Brazil to work in the legal department of Latin America's largest mining company, Companhia Vale do Rio Doce ("Vale"), with responsibility for international legal matters. He returned to London in 2003 to work in Clyde & Co's Latin American team. He has been resident in Brazil since 2006, having opened Clyde & Co's São Paulo representative office, of which he is the manager.
His practice includes a broad spectrum of Brazil-related commercial matters working for Brazilian and international clients.
He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, French and English.
