Robert Meakin

Robert joined Clyde & Co in February 2010, and is a partner in the Construction and Infrastructure group.

He is a highly experienced infrastructure lawyer, and was head of projects at Shadbolt LLP before joining Clyde & Co.

He has advised clients in the infrastructure and construction industry since 1992, including government departments, project sponsors, SPVs, major contractors, consultants, funders and developers. His practice covers PFI/PPP, major transport and energy projects (both in the UK and internationally), and property development.

He has drafted, negotiated and advised on a wide range of project and concession agreements, EPC, civil engineering and construction contracts, facilities management agreements, consultancy appointments, bonds, guarantees, warranties and other ancillary documentation.

In the rail sector, he has advised on the Dutch High Speed Rail Link, the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, the Dubai Metro, the extension of the Piccadilly Line to Heathrow's T5, and the East London Line extension. In relation to highways infrastructure, he has advised on the M25 Widening DBFO, and a number of streetlighting PFIs and highways maintenance contracts.

In the energy sector, he has recently acted on a major new power plant in the Caribbean, and the upgrade of an oil refinery on the German coast, and is advising on a number of biomass CHP schemes in the UK.

In PFI/PPP, he has extensive experience in the education, health, social care, accommodation and transport sectors. Social infrastructure deals in the UK include the Bradford and Lewisham BSF schemes, social care PFIs in Croydon, Hertfordshire and East Sussex, the John Radcliffe Hospital PFI in Oxford, and a number of LIFT schemes.

Robert has also worked on a number of commercial property developments, including the redevelopment of Spitalfields market in the City of London.
