Roderic McLauchlan specialises in professional liability defence and insurance coverage issues. His cases involve a wide range of professions and sectors, generally with international and offshore aspects, including:

• Directors and officers, trustees and fund managers
• Financial institution and fidelity insurance
• Facultative and treaty reinsurance
He also has recent experience in onshore and offshore construction and energy projects, and general liability coverage and defence work. He advises and represents insurers in direct and reinsurance matters throughout Canada, the US, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, Nigeria and Uganda. He is also increasingly involved in data breach/ cyber insurance matters and insurance issues arising from bribery/corruption/corporate prosecution cases.
He has significant experience in dispute resolution through litigation, arbitration and mediation both in Canada and in the United Kingdom. He also provides advice on risk management, insurance issues and policy wording. His experience in-house with a major insurer has taught him to be result oriented and efficient.
He practices from the Toronto office and also out of the London office. is admitted to the Bar in Ontario and Quebec and is a practicing member of the Law Society of England & Wales. Bilingual (English - French), he has published in the field of D&O, securities litigation, and insurance, and is a regular speaker at professional seminars.
