Simon was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court in April 1988. He has been involved in commercial litigation since he qualified and has specialised in insurance and reinsurance related litigation and arbitration for some 18 years. Simon joined Clyde & Co as an assistant in September 1991 and became a partner in May 1996.
He has wide expertise in a range of disputes involving various forms of insurance and reinsurance products in the domestic and international marine, non-marine and aviation markets, including binding authority agreements, contingency, credit, professional indemnity and residual value insurance, facultative and treaty reinsurances, and alternative risk transfer.
Simon is particularly experienced in dealing with large scale multi-party and multi-jurisdictional disputes, (particularly involving the US and continental Europe) by way of litigation, arbitration, mediation and negotiation including contractual, tortious and fraud claims (which also involve freezing and search orders).
