Sophie is a Senior Associate (qualified England & Wales, and Australia). She specialises in contentious and non-contentious matters relating to trade and commodities, including transport and logistics and offshore energy.
Sophie was admitted in 2003. She worked at leading Perth and Melbourne law firms, and then joined Clyde & Co in London in 2004. In London, Sophie worked predominantly on contentious marine and energy insurance and reinsurance matters, particularly on the wet side. One matter of note was acting for subrogated insurers in a High Court recovery action (US$150m) against the designers of a state- of-the-art drillship, following a catastrophic casualty in the drawworks during the first 18 months of operation, resulting in the loss of the drillstring and BOP.
At the end of 2009 Sophie joined one of the world's largest privately owned trading companies located in Switzerland as in-house counsel. In this role she advised commodity and freight traders and back-office staff daily on a broad range of both contentious and non-contentious trade and transport matters in relation to both wet and dry commodities.
Sophie rejoined Clyde & Co based in our Singapore and Perth offices in 2012.
