As a partner in the New York office, Steve Kennedy has extensive experience representing insurers and reinsurers in litigation and arbitration involving a wide range of issues, including aggregation and allocation of losses, number of occurrences, rescission, underwriting intent, premium caps, claims handling practices, set-offs, special acceptances, and ECO/XPL liability arising out of a variety of business classes, including trade credit, financial institution, directors & officers, general casualty, errors & omissions, professional liability, employment practices liability, advertising injury liability, property catastrophe, workers compensation, and accident & health.
Steve also has substantial experience representing issuers of variable annuities and mutual funds in class action litigations and arbitrations involving various issues including securities law violations, suitability, fraud, misrepresentation and claims against broker-dealers.
Steve began his legal career as an attorney with the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department. He graduated from Kenyon College in 1991 and Villanova University School of Law in 1995, where he was Managing Editor of the Villanova Sports and Entertainment Law Journal. In his third year, Steve was one of two winners of the nationwide law student writing competition “Emerging Issues in State Constitutional Law” annually sponsored by the National Association of Attorneys General.
