Stirling has been a Partner at Clyde & Co since 1983 and is the Head of the Latin American team. He previously ran Clyde & Co's offices in Latin America for a number of years.
He speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese and travels very frequently to a number of different countries in Latin America.
His main expertise is in the area of international dispute resolution involving Latin America. He has considerable experience in the following areas: international arbitration and litigation, the various energy sectors, trade and investment disputes, shipping and transportation, and insurance and reinsurance. Stirling also frequently advises and provides legal opinions in each of these areas.
Stirling was listed as a leading individual in the 2009 Global Arbitration Review, with special mention of his involvement in the multi-billion dollar Petrobas arbitration. The firm was ranked 11 out of the top 100 global arbitration practices.
