The Clyde & Co approach to construction and infrastructure advice is unique. Our integrated team works cross-departmentally with tax, corporate, commercial, projects, banking and property lawyers to enable us to be genuinely partner-led. This multi-disciplinary, generalist approach to both contentious and transactional advice means we understand all the angles of any commercial matter.
We have recently reached an agreement with Shadbolt LLP that its London-based construction and infrastructure projects and disputes teams join Clyde & Co from 1 February 2010. The combined team, led by over 20 specialist real estate and construction partners, has a vast amount of experience in the sector and works with a broad cross-section of the construction and infrastructure industry. It will form a leading practice advising on all aspects of construction disputes, including international arbitration (encompassing a strong ICC arbitration offering), and on the full range of infrastructure projects in the energy, transport and social infrastructure sectors including PPP and PFI transactions as well as international project finance.
Working across the Clyde & Co network of worldwide offices but particularly in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East, we handle a range of multi-national construction and engineering projects. In particular, our global team has in-depth experience of major construction projects and issues. These include on-shore and off-shore energy projects, as well as ship and other maritime new buildings. We advise in relation to the drafting of the contracts, the financial aspects and disputes as and when they occur.
We have substantial experience in all forms of dispute resolution including international arbitration, litigation, adjudication, conciliation and mediation. Clyde & Co’s award winning dispute resolution team means that we can handle any manner of construction dispute. Our team includes approved adjudicators and we bring expert legal skills to the construction industry. We also have the capability to advise on any associated environmental and health & safety issues.
We handle a wide variety of construction projects in both the public and private sector for a broad cross-section of the industry. Projects tend to range in value from £10 million to £500 million but our cost-conscious approach to resourcing means all our projects are economically handled. We are extremely familiar with all of the main standard forms of construction contracts (including FIDIC conditions).
Our world-leading insurance practice means that we have an insight into insurance issues relating to the construction industry. One high-profile example of our work was providing construction insurance advice for the new National Stadium at Wembley. This insurance expertise means that we know that our bespoke warranties will be acceptable to the industry. In addition, we have drafted the professional indemnity policies for household insurance names and are well equipped to know industry preferences.
