New York State Resolved Ethicon Case with Johnson & Johnson

The New York State Attorney General's office has entered into a consent judgment with Johnson & Johnson in a deceptive trade practices lawsuit it brought against the company in connection with the marketing of Ethicon surgical mesh products. While the consent judgment specifically states that the defendant admits no wrongdoing, etc., the document requires Ethicon, Inc. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson) to cease making specific representations as well as requiring it to make several other specific risk-related statements concerning the product, disclose its sponsorship of certain medical literature, and pay USD 116,860,000 in damages. A copy of the judgment can be downloaded below.
