Michael (Mike) Topp has been advising and representing insurers on first-party and third-party coverage matters for over 20 years. Mike counsels and represents insurers on issues arising under commercial general liability policies, commercial auto policies, commercial excess and personal umbrella policies, professional liability policies, commercial property policies and various specialty coverages, including social services professional liability and product recall coverages.
Mike has litigated coverage and bad faith actions involving a wide range of issues, including claims for defense and indemnity under third-party liability policies, property damage and business interruption claims under first-party policies, claims under contamination and product recall coverages and ERISA benefits claims. His areas of special emphasis include personal and advertising injury liability coverage, first-party property coverage, environmental coverage, marine coverage and construction defect coverage.
The breadth and depth of Mike’s insurance coverage experience, as well as his client-focused approach, sets Mike apart. Whether counseling clients, advocating in court, or engaging with policyholders’ counsel, Mike strives to combine a rigorous approach to contract analysis with common sense and a strong focus on his clients’ business concerns.
