Gavin has worked in shipping and marine insurance since 2005 and specialises in marine insurance, cargo and international goods in transit claims. Prior to joining Clyde & Co he trained with another leading international marine practice and also worked in house with a global loss adjusting company where he gained broad market experience, including the adjustment and settlement of marine cargo, marine liability and ports and terminal claims.
Gavin’s practice predominantly focuses on cargo recovery, freight liability, general average and salvage claims arising from the carriage of goods by sea and road and encompasses Bill of Lading, Charterparty and CMR disputes. He also advises on marine insurance policy coverage, international trade/commercial disputes, ports and terminals, freight/debt collection, including vessel arrest and security, yachts and pleasure craft claims and the carriage of dangerous goods.
Gavin has acted for a number of international insurers including Lloyd’s syndicates, captives and global corporate entities, freight forwarders and logistics providers. His practice covers both English Admiralty and Commercial Court matters and Arbitration. He has also been involved in a number of high value claims throughout Europe and before the Japanese, Malaysian and Australian Courts.
Gavin is a committee member of the Manchester Marine Insurance Association.
