Salma advised leading sports federations and media organisations in investigations before the COMESA Competition Commission, with a particular focus on matters related to the sponsorship and broadcasting of sports events across the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa.

She served as the primary point of contact for regulatory and compliance matters, advising multinational companies in the IT and telecommunications sectors on a broad range of issues, including licensing requirements, regional and local competition laws, and compliance with cybersecurity and data privacy regulations. In addition, Salma provided legal support to athletes in negotiating coaching and sponsorship agreements, and represented them before the International Testing Agency.

  • Successfully representing world-ranked professional squash player in an anti-doping investigation before the International Testing Agency.
  • Successfully representing the Confederation of African Football in proceedings before the COMESA Competition Commission regarding a USD 1 bn contract with Lagardère Sports (now "Sportfive EMEA"), including all associated broadcasting, licensing, marketing, and sponsorship agreements, establishing a significant precedent.
  • Successfully defending the Confederation of African Football in an ICC Emergency Arbitration under Swiss law concerning the alleged unlawful termination of sports broadcasting and marketing contract.
  • Successfully defending a European sports marketing company before the COMESA Competition Commission with respect to its alleged breach of COMESA Competition Regulations following its execution of a multimillion-dollar sports broadcasting contract with a European-based international sports association.
