Experience
  • Appellate court upheld the trial court’s ruling on the motion for summary judgment on the grounds the intent of the agreement was for the parties to provide mutual firefighting aid regardless of whether a signatory may have caused a fire. The case involved a grass fire, for which plaintiff sought reimbursement of firefighting costs. The issue on appeal was whether a party to an agreement for mutual firefighting aid can be found liable for fire suppression costs of a co-party to the agreement when the first party allegedly contributed to the fire.
  • Obtained appellate rulings upholding dismissals of claims asserted against employees of and a law firm retained by a defendant-homebuilder, the claims being asserted by a particularly aggressive plaintiff acting in propria persona and requiring the filing of numerous demurrers and anti-SLAPP motions against plaintiff.
  • Obtained a favorable settlement for a client in a pre-litigation personal injury matter involving significant injuries caused in a truck-car accident, in which the client merely leased the trailers which were being hauled by the truck driver who caused the incident.
  • Dismissal of complaints in two separate actions entered in favor of clients shortly before hearing on clients’ motion for summary judgment based on co-defendants not having been employed by clients and plaintiffs’ claims being barred by the going and coming rule.
  • Nominal settlement for a high-end window retailer in construction defect matter arising from construction of an upscale single-family residence.
