Sam has specialised in defending claims against professionals for over 15 years, representing both traditional and emerging professions, including lawyers, valuers, accountants and brokers, as well as estate and letting agents, management companies and directors and officers. 

He has particular experience and expertise acting for and advising solicitors, from high street practices to global law firms, often in cases of significant value and complexity.

Sam also routinely advises on matters of policy coverage, addressing, for example, questions of late notification, non-disclosure and dishonesty.

Experience

• Defending a global law firm against negligence claims arising from the drafting of documentation for a series of oil tanker sale and leaseback transactions
• Managing claims brought against a high street firm of solicitors in the wake of its intervention and closure by the SRA following a misappropriation of monies from the firm’s client account
• Defending a national firm of solicitors against negligence allegations arising out of the administration of a deceased’s estate
• Defending an international law firm in connection with an alleged under-settlement of a substantial catastrophic injury action
• Defending a solicitor against claims of discrimination under the Equality Act brought by a litigant in person
• Successful strike out of a ‘lost litigation’ claim brought against an international firm solicitors concerning alleged negligent advice on limitation
• Successful defence to trial of an alleged negligent overvaluation claim against a firm of chartered surveyors
• Defending an insurance broker in connection with alleged negligence concerning the placement of insurance cover for a restaurant business
