Christina N. Hoffman is an attorney in the Trial & Defense practice group. Christina is a leading defense attorney in civil sex trafficking litigation. Serving as National Coordinating Counsel for defendants facing claims under the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA), Christina advises Fortune 500 companies, hospitality brands, and financial institutions in complex, high exposure federal litigation across multiple jurisdictions.

With deep expertise in the rapidly evolving TVPRA landscape, Christina develops and executes unified national defense strategies, ensures consistency in legal positions across venues, and manages coordinated discovery, briefing, and risk mitigation for clients confronted with multidistrict claims. Christina has navigated cutting edge statutory interpretation issues, and shaped emerging jurisprudence in cases alleging beneficiary liability, corporate knowledge, and industry wide standards of care.

A seasoned litigator, Christina has defended clients in federal courts throughout the country and frequently works with general counsel, executive leadership, and insurers to evaluate exposure, align litigation strategy with business objectives, and present clear, sophisticated guidance in a highly sensitive and reputationally significant area of law. Christina handles all phases of litigation from client development and detailed investigation of the case to settlement and trial. In addition to her role as national coordinating counsel for sex trafficking matters, her vast litigation experience includes product liability, toxic torts, catastrophic injury, consumer class action lawsuits, employment, privacy, property rights disputes, nuisance and habitability, education and disability-related discrimination litigation.

Christina has a depth of experience defending academic integrity and sexual assault claims in educational settings. She consults clients, schools, and athletes with California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) athletic eligibility, and recently successfully handled an NCAA athletic eligibility appeal. Christina frequently provides disability consulting for a wide range of clients.

  • Recently won summary judgment against the State of California, Department of Transportation for large property claim arising from a truck fire (2024).

  • Co-counsel in proposed class action lawsuit against the College Board brought on behalf of students denied the opportunity to take AP tests during the COVID-19 pandemic (2021).

  • Part of litigation team that procured USD 16 million settlement of class action against an undergraduate admissions organization for the wrongful sharing of student disability data (2021).

  • Advise, advocate, and litigate on behalf of clients regarding education and disability-related discrimination, disability accommodations requests, sexual assault allegations, and grievance procedures, including Office of Civil Rights and Title IX claims.

  • Managed dozens of cases involving consumer and drug products liability, amusement park liability, and complex tort class actions in federal and state court.

  • Successfully represented nuclear waste container manufacturer in complex business dispute in a four-week arbitration involving contract law and privacy issues (2018).

  • Successfully defended international security corporation in wrongful death trial in Los Angeles Superior Court (2002).

  • Represented corporate clients in employment and intellectual property litigation, including Business & Professions Code section 17200 consumer class actions, unfair competition, and false advertising cases in state court in US District Court Northern District of California (2000).

  • Prepared for trial until settlement of two high-profile, leading brand-name clients in trademark infringement actions in US District Court Northern District of California (2000).

  • Defense of Fortune 500 consumer product manufacturer in sexual harassment and gender discrimination trial in Ventura County Superior Court.

  • Obtained USD 12 million verdict for plaintiffs in a product liability and negligence case (1992).
