David Ktshozyan

David Ktshozyan is an experienced insurance coverage lawyer whose practice spans complex and high-value claims across fine art, specie, contingency, marine, energy, and commercial general liability lines. Known for a sharp analytical approach and a deep understanding of niche insurance sectors, David advises domestic and international insurers on coverage disputes, policy interpretation, claims strategy, and litigation.

David has developed particular experience in fine art and specie insurance, handling matters involving damage, loss, theft, provenance, and valuation. He regularly advises on coverage for art dealers, private collectors, galleries, museums, auction houses, and vault storage, both in transit and on exhibition.

In the marine and energy sectors, David represents insurers in claims arising from offshore operations, cargo losses, hull and machinery issues, and pollution events. He also handles commercial general liability claims, particularly those involving bodily injury, property damage, and coverage related to the construction industry.

• Represented and obtained favorable result for insurers in coverage litigation arising out of damage to a high-value mural that was destroyed because of third-party negligence.
• Represented insurers both in coverage litigation and pre-litigation on looting claims involving jewelry and wristwatches arising out of the George Floyd-related protests.

• Advised insurers on claim relating to mysterious disappearance of a professional athlete’s jewelry. 
• Represented insurers on contingency event cancellation claim arising out of the cancellation of a musical artist's tour, which involved issues pertaining to pre-existing conditions.
