Alex Stewart is a Legal Director specialising in commercial disputes in London. He represents international clients in both litigation and arbitration across a variety of sectors (including technology, energy, sports and pharmaceuticals).
Alex joined Clyde & Co in 2016 and is a member of the firm’s commercial disputes team. Alex has worked on a wide range of commercial disputes and has significant experience in both litigation (including the English and ADGM Courts) and arbitration (including under the LCIA, UNCITRAL, DIAC and ICC rules). He is recognised in Legal 500 for International Arbitration.
He acts for states, state-owned enterprises, corporations and ultra-high net worth individuals. He has represented clients in a wide variety of sectors, including venture capital, energy, sports, real estate, pharmaceuticals and technology.
Alongside his commercial disputes experience, Alex has dealt with multiple regulators and public authorities in respect of criminal and public law matters, and has conducted internal investigations.
Alex is also a member of the Sport Resolutions Pro Bono Panel.

Acting for a Middle Eastern investment bank in a JV dispute relating to a distressed EUR 100 million real estate development (LCIA arbitration)
Acting for an ultra-high net worth individual in a dispute worth over USD 50 million relating to non-delivery of shares in a tech ‘unicorn’ (DIAC arbitration)
Acting for a technology company in a dispute worth approximately GBP 40 million in the Technology and Construction Court
Advising a State-owned energy company on a range of disputes worth over USD 1 billion
Advising a large Middle Eastern venture capital fund on a variety different investments (including acting for a partner in the fund in the ADGM Court)
Acting for and advising a Football Association on a number of disputes, including two CAS arbitrations
Acting for a Middle Eastern pharmaceutical company in a dispute worth approximately USD 70 million regarding the termination of a distribution agreement (LCIA arbitration)
Acting for a State in related arbitrations worth in excess of USD 25 million regarding a power generation project (UNCITRAL and ICC arbitrations)
Conducting an internal investigation into allegations of bribery in respect of the purchase and sale of oil and gas fields in Africa
