Global law firm Clyde & Co has today announced the appointment of Rosie Ng as Partner to its Global Insurance Group in Hong Kong.
Rosie joins from HFW, where she advises policyholders, insurers and reinsurers, and intermediaries on all aspects of insurance and reinsurance dispute resolution. In particular, she advises on issues relating to D&O, professional indemnity, commercial crime, fidelity, employment practice liability, product liability and business interruption and construction-related insurance. She also provides insurance regulatory advice and advises on policy wordings and product development.
Rosie has a proven track record advising on complex insurance issues involving Hong Kong, Mainland China and other jurisdictions, and is a former director of the Hong Kong Insurance Law Association. Rosie will strengthen the firm's Insurance Group in Hong Kong and Mainland China and also contribute to the growth of the Employment Group and commercial litigation team in the region.
Simon McConnell, Managing Partner of Clyde & Co Hong Kong, comments: "Rosie is well-regarded in the market as one of the leading insurance and reinsurance lawyers in Hong Kong, so we are delighted to have her on board. Her practice complements the work of our existing group, and adds new dimensions, specifically in relation to product liability."
Rosie Ng comments: "I am excited to be joining Clyde & Co, a firm I feel has an unequalled insurance and disputes platform and reputation in the market, steered by senior insurance practitioners and underpinned by a collaborative and integrated partnership."
Rosie becomes Clyde & Co’s fourth senior hire in Hong Kong this year, following disputes partner Rachael Shek and aviation partner Stuart Miller and Legal Manager IChing Lee. Her arrival also comes as Clyde & Co celebrates 40 years since it first established an office in Hong Kong. In February 1981, Clyde & Co opened in Hong Kong, the firm's first office outside London and has since grown to be one of the longest-established international law firms in the region with 12 partners and almost 100 employees – together becoming the leading insurance practice in Hong Kong and offering a complete legal service to local and international clients across the firm's core sectors including aviation, marine, energy and construction.
Commenting on the anniversary, Simon McConnell, Managing Partner of Clyde & Co Hong Kong, says: "We are immensely proud of the transformation we have seen at Clyde & Co Hong Kong over the past 40 years. What has set us apart of over this time is the way we work with clients in the territory and wider region – bringing our local expertise and experience together with all the benefits of a globally integrated firm. Our success here is testament to all the skill and dedication of the people who have worked here over the past 40 years, some of whom have been here since the start."
