Hong Kong is renowned for its high population density, with 7.5 million people living there.

Hong Kong often experiences extreme weather events, including enormous hailstones, dense fog and typhoons. More recently and consistent with the general increase in extreme weather events globally, Hong Kong has been prone to severe heat.

The location of Hong Kong means that it already has a sub-tropical climate. However due to climate change and an increase in population density, it means that hotter summers are on the rise.
