Tomo is an Associate in the Singapore office. His practice focuses on corporate investigations, regulatory compliance and commercial disputes.

Tomo assists clients to navigate investigations concerning fraud, corruption, professional misconduct and other white-collar offences. This includes providing strategic guidance during regulatory inspections, managing interactions with enforcement agencies and developing compliance and remediation policies to address risks. Tomo also represents clients in commercial disputes, including international arbitration and Singapore court proceedings. 

Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Tomo was a disputes associate working under Senior Counsel in one of the Big Four firms in Singapore. He has acted for individuals and companies on complex commercial disputes at all levels of the Singapore Courts. Since he was an associate, Tomo had successfully argued several interlocutory applications before the Singapore High Court. He has also assisted clients to achieve successful outcomes in high-profile appeals such as Alternative Advisors Investments Pte Ltd v Asidokona Mining Resources Pte Ltd anor [2024] SGCA 3, where the Singapore Court of Appeal elucidated the parameters of the doctrine of contractual ratification, and Prem N Shamdasani v Management Corporation Strata Title Plan No. 0920 [2022] SGHC 280, where the Singapore High Court clarified the legal framework on when and how a subsidary proprietor may lawfully effect improvements to their unit.

  • Successfully represented a mining company and its director in an appeal against the decision of the Appellate Division of the High Court involving in relation to a contractual dispute involving novel issues of agency law. 
  • Successfully represented a fitness franchise in obtaining injunctive relief against unlawful eviction of premises.
  • Successfully acted for a subsidiary proprietor in a strata titles dispute with the Management Corporation before the Singapore High Court, overturning the entire decision of the district Court on appeal.

International Arbitration

  • Advised an industry-leading plumbing and electrical works corporation on claims under the jurisdiction of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre relating to several contracts for supply, delivery and installation services. 
  • Acted for a Lithuanian company in an international dispute with a global commercial printing company on claims relating to a joint venture agreement to provide data printing services to foreign governments.

  • Advised an institutional investor in relation claims arising out of the biggest Ponzi scheme in the history of Singapore.
  • Advised one of the largest agribusinesses on its ex-employee’s breaches of confidentiality. Successfully recovered all documents that were unlawfully retained / removed. Obtained confidentiality undertaking from ex-employee. 
  • Advised ex-directors / senior management of one of the largest international health insurance brokers on claims of breaches of confidence, breaches of fiduciary duties, and conspiracy to injure.
