He advises on contentious and non-contentious issues across domestic and international jurisdictions, acting for airlines, shipping companies, ports, logistics operators, and their insurers.
Carlos has extensive experience in aviation claims, particularly those arising under the Montreal Convention 1999 and Regulation (EU) 261, regularly representing airlines and aviation stakeholders in complex disputes. He also handles marine and road transport casualty cases, cargo recoveries, port and terminal liabilities, ship arrests, and insurance-related matters. He is particularly recognised for his expertise in drafting marine cargo policy wordings and advising on high-value project cargo and cruise line claims.
Before joining our firm in 2016, Carlos worked with Lloyd’s coverholders and insurance and reinsurance brokers, gaining in-depth knowledge of the London market and international insurance practices.
Carlos holds a double degree in Law and Business Administration from the University of Alicante and an LL.M. in International Maritime Law from Swansea University. He is fluent in English and French and is a member of the Madrid Bar Association.
In recognition of his expertise, Carlos has been invited to lecture in the LL.M. in Shipping Business and Maritime Law in Madrid and is an active member of the Youth Section of the Spanish Maritime Law Association. Most recently, the Asociación de Jóvenes Profesionales del Seguro (AJPS) has honoured Carlos with the 40 Under Forty award, which annually recognises 40 professionals under the age of 40 who are set to lead the Spanish insurance industry in the coming years.
