James is a specialist in claims involving cosmetic surgery, dentistry, orthopaedic surgery, cardiac surgery, chiropractic treatment, optometry and ophthalmology, mental health treatment, fertility treatment, and teleradiology. He has a keen interest in sports‑related injuries and concussion claims. He regularly delivers training and presentations to clients across the insurance sector, drawing on his in‑depth knowledge of complex medical and liability issues. He also advises insurers on coverage issues.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, James was a senior lawyer at RPC and DAC Beachcroft, where he acted predominantly for medical malpractice insurers. He has over 10 years’ experience advising insurers across a wide range of complex claims.
James also has experience assisting medical professionals in regulatory proceedings and brings a background in criminal law. This provides him with a well‑rounded understanding of risk, investigation, and professional accountability.
