Katherine East is a Senior Associate in the London Disease team with a practice focusing on short tail claims and specialising in a range of respiratory diseases, care and neglect, and occupational stress claims.
Katherine qualified in Scotland in 2006 having undertaken a purely personal injury litigation traineeship and practiced in Edinburgh for 18 months before relocating to London in 2008 where she joined BLM's Disease team working on EL and PL claims involving asbestos-related conditions, noise-induced hearing loss and HAVS.
Following a period living and working abroad between 2013 and 2018 she returned to BLM in 2019 where her practice developed and expanded to include short-tail diseases including care and neglect, housing disrepair and occupational stress/bullying and harassment claims.
Since BLM's merger with Clyde & Co, Katherine's practice has come to focus almost exclusively on short-tail diseases to include a wide range of acute respiratory conditions such as COVID-19, TB and Legionnaire's Disease, as well as RSI/WRULD and occupational dermatitis claims. However, her particular area of interest and expertise lies with care and neglect matters where she regularly advises insurers and care providers in relation to both inquests and civil claims.
