Matthew Earl focuses his practice in the areas of litigation, insurance, reinsurance, product liability, coverage, litigation, and defense of tort cases. Matthew has over 10 years of experience defending insured and self-insured clients in toxic tort matters, including product liability and premises liability matters. In his role, he works with clients and counsel throughout the country on all aspects of litigation, including fact and expert discovery, expert witness preparation, assessing and analyzing risk, developing long-term defense strategies, and settlement negotiations with national plaintiff firms.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Matthew focused his practice on defending product manufacturers, premises owners, contractors, and other businesses, including Fortune 500 companies, in mass tort litigation and general liability matters. He began his career as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Boone County, Illinois, where he was the head of the traffic and misdemeanor divisions. As a State’s Attorney, he was entrusted with managing complex and high-volume caseloads from arraignment through resolution, handling discovery, pre-trial motions, plea negotiations, and jury trials.
