Lucas provides non-contentious, transactional advice on a broad range of commercial and contractual matters to clients in the oil and gas sector. Drawing from his in-house background and experience gained from secondments to oil and gas operators, Lucas has particular expertise in the drafting and negotiation of agreements for oilfield services, EPCI and asset integrity categories of work, both from an operator and contractor perspective.
Lucas is admitted as a solicitor in Scotland. He completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 2011 and Master of Laws – Oil and Gas Law (LLM) in 2012 at the University of Aberdeen and his Diploma in Professional Legal Practice (DPLP) at Robert Gordon University in 2020.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Lucas was a member of the oil and gas team at Brodies LLP. Before this, Lucas worked at a number of multinational service companies in the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors for over 10 years, including Seaway7, TechnipFMC and EnerMech, and undertook an in-house training contract at Altrad Integrity Services.

- Advising one of the world’s largest (by revenue) offshore drilling contractors on different approaches to multi-party mutual hold harmless and indemnity frameworks, including the drafting of a comprehensive advice note.*
- Advising a UK based operator of a gas processing plant (with a processing capacity of up to 675 million cubic feet of gas per day from the North Sea) on the drafting of new direct liquids sales agreements and the amendment of existing liquids sale and purchase agreements between the operator and users of the plant.*
